What Is It

And How Can I Learn More?

The Enneagram is a map revealing nine personality types that indicate the way we, consciously and subconsciously, process and respond to the world. This tool of self-discovery and transformation reveals to us the areas of our personality that keep us from living fully and freely. It cultivates an awareness of our personality and its tendencies so we can begin letting go of our defensive reactions and limiting patterns of behavior. In this “letting go” – a trademark of the contemplative path – we are more able to live out of our True Self, the self that bears the image of God, and thus offer our unique manifestation of God’s love to a world in need.

If you are interested in making the Enneagram part of your journey, or would like to invite its wisdom into your community, I’d be happy to connect with you.  My training and certification includes:  Advanced Level Certification in the Enneagram with Dr. Jerome Wagoner atEnneagram Spectrum, the Levels of Development of the Enneagram through the Enneagram Institute, and the Enneagram in Spiritual Direction with Suzanne Stabile.  I offer the following Enneagram consultations, coaching and workshops:

Deep Coaching with the Enneagram:  What’s Keeping You Stuck

Often we know our Enneagram type and may even notice our Type’s patterns and tendencies within our behavior. However, we still struggle to understand what exactly causes us to respond to situations negatively, whether in our relationships, leadership, parenting, or all the above.  We wonder what takes us into that downward spiral and what is it that helps us respond with awareness, leading to growth. Examination of our basic fear sheds light on this and reveals the levels of health we are functioning at within our Enneagram type at any given time.

These recommended on-going sessions include but are not limited to:

  • an overview of the Levels of Development and Stances within your Enneagram type
  • examination your Type’s basic fear – expressions, malformations, and triggers
  • exploration of invitations to growth stemming from your basic fear
  • development of tools/practices that foster growth and deeper awareness

Group Workshops:

Enneagram Basics

The Enneagram is a map that invites us to begin the journey of self-discovery and transformation.  This dynamic system sheds light on our habitual thoughts, feelings, and behavioral patterns, and reveals the primary motivation behind these patterns. Ultimately, learning and doing the work of the Enneagram cultivates within us a deeper self-awareness and higher levels of compassion for others.  In this workshop, we will begin to peel back the layers of the Enneagram through exploring the following:

  • A Brief History of this Ancient Tool
  • Philosophy of Personality
  • Overview of all Nine Personality Types

Enneagram 2.0 – A Deeper Look

Once we know our Type and its tendencies and patterns, we often wonder why we still do things we do not want to do.  Taking a deeper look at our Type’s basic fear and its adaptive and maladaptive patterns will begin to reveal why we feel stuck and ways we can begin to change and make the journey back to our true, essential self.  In this workshop, we will explore each Type’s:

  • Basic Fears and Desires
  • Lost Childhood Messages and Fixations
  • Adaptive and Maladaptive Thinking, Feeling, and Behaving Patterns
  • Resourceful and Non-Resourceful States
  • Integration and Disintegration

Leadership through the Lens of the Enneagram

Leadership development is often less about learning new skills and more about letting go of limiting patterns of behavior that stifle our ability to reach our full potential.  Through study of the Enneagram, slowly, we develop the ability to watch our personality in action and gain a clearer sense of our operating style.  Further, once we realize others operating styles are different than our own we can begin to listen, lead, and communicate in a more compassionate and effective way.  In this workshop we will explore the way this powerful tool serves as a growth map for deepening self-awareness, growing our emotional intelligence, and thus strengthening our ability to lead others well.  The following topics will be discussed:

  • Dominate and Preferred Thinking, Feeling, and Doing
  • Vulnerabilities, Avoidances, and Defense Maneuvers
  • Communication and Leadership Languages
  • Workplace Culture and Team Dynamic
  • Exercises for Cultivating Growth and Change
